FCC Book Club

Beyond Color Blind by Sarah Shin

At Forest City Church, we believe deeply in embodying Life Together. Acts 2:42-47 gives us a powerful picture of a community marked by radical hospitality, ethnic diversity, shared life, and sacrificial love. Each summer, the FCC Book Club creates space for us to grow in living out that kind of community. Together, we read a book that challenges and inspires us to deepen our life together in Christ.

This summer, we’ll be reading Beyond Colorblind by Sarah Shin—a gospel-shaped invitation to see, heal, and celebrate our ethnic identities so that the church can more fully embody Jesus-centered reconciliation and multiethnic community. The FCC Book Club isn’t just about reading a book; it’s about growing together in friendship, understanding, and faith as we learn to reflect kingdom of God.

  • When you sign up for the FCC Book Club, you’re not just committing to read the same book as everyone else—you’re committing to read it withothers. Our hope is that no one reads alone.

You are responsible for finding your own reading community. That might look like:

    • Gathering a few people from your Life Group

    • Inviting a friend, neighbor, or someone from church to read with you

    • Joining in with a group that someone else is forming

When you sign up, tell us whether you’ll be:

    • Leading a group (hosting a few people to read and discuss together), or

    • Participating in a group (joining a group that’s being led by someone else)

Use this form to let us know you’ll be part of the FCC Book Club. We’ll keep you in the loop with the reading plan, reflection questions, and encouragement along the way.

  • You can use the links below to purchase the books online or we will have a limited number of copies available for purchase starting May 10th.
