Formation Through Sermons
We believe God uses the weekly preaching of His Word to shape the life of our church. Sermons are not simply messages to hear, but invitations to listen for God’s voice and respond in faith.
The Sermon Formation Pathway
Listen Attentively
Each week, come prepared to listen with openness and expectancy. As Scripture is preached, ask not only “What is being said?” but “What might God be saying to us—and to me?”
2. Reflect Prayerfully
After the sermon, use the weekly sermon reflection guide to slow down and reflect. These guides help create space to notice what stood out, discern where the Spirit may be prompting you, and name any invitation God is extending.
3. Discern the Invitation
From your reflection, identify one simple invitation God is extending. This is not about fixing everything at once, but about noticing where God is inviting obedience right now.
As you reflect, consider:
Is there a truth to embrace?
A posture to shift?
A habit to form or release?
A step of obedience to take?
God’s invitations are often small, personal, and timely.
4. Respond in Obedience
Formation happens when we respond. Choose one simple, faithful step to practice during the week ahead—trusting that obedience, not perfection, is how God shapes us.
5. Practice in Community
Spiritual formation happens best in community. While God’s invitations may be personal, they are not meant to be lived out alone. As we process sermons and practice obedience together—in Life Groups or with a trusted friend—we gain encouragement, wisdom, and accountability. Community helps us name God’s invitations more clearly, follow through faithfully, and remain grounded in grace as we grow. Walking this formation journey with others reminds us that we are being shaped not just as individuals, but as the body of Christ.
